A deluxe bassoon maintenance/care kit that contains only the best music educator approved products, carefully selected to help you keep your instrument clean and in good working order for years to come.
Contents:
- Silk Swab(s): Moisture absorbent, long lasting, and washable; attached to a drawstring with a weight. The weighted end should be dropped through the ends of the instrument pieces, then pulled through several times (following practice or performance) for the best results.
- Duster Brush/Key Oiler: A small double-ended brush that should be used to clean any moving hinge joints where key rods are fitted to posts on your woodwind instrument. Following a good cleaning, one drop of key oil per joint is sufficient to keep rods free and smooth. DO NOT get key oil on the pads (or wood finish on some clarinets).
- Cork Grease: Cork grease is supplied in tube form and should be used lightly on the ends of the instrument where they are joined together. Only apply enough to keep cork surface lubricated to fit easily into its respective socket.
- Polish Cloth: Made of fine brushed cotton and treated for use on lacquer finishes. Remember: Do not use a silver treated cloth on a lacquered instrument, as it will mar/degrade the finish. Silver polish cloths, especially, will become dirty and black after usage, which indicates it is working well. Do not wash the cloths (washing them removes the polishing agents).
