9:45-11:15 Clinic: “Marching Band S.O.S.” (Randall Coleman)

This session will provide the attendee with strategies and information that will assist in making the marching band rehearsal more effective, efficient, and productive. Designed for both the veteran and younger educator alike, the session will focus on both music and visual elements, as well as rehearsal logistics and organization. Topics discussed include: the first rehearsal, basics (musical and visual), the marching band “complete package,” the music rehearsal, the visual rehearsal, setting goals, care and feeding of the students, parents, administrators, and the community.

1:00-4:00 ABA Adjudicator Clinic (Dr. Ken Ozzello)

6:30-8:00 ABA Social Hour

Thursday, June 26, 2014

8:30-9:00 Board of Directors Meeting

9:00-9:30 ABA General Business Meeting

9:45-10:45 Clinic: “Leading the Band: Moving From Good to Great” (Elva Kaye Lance)

This clinic will focus on developing a successful leadership team from the top down. Talking points include modeling and strategies that encourage commitment and buy-in to the overall mission and success of the total program.

11:00-12:00 Clinic: Unlocking the Mysteries of Music Programming and Classification (David Allinder)

Most agree that programming is key to a successful performance, but annually, many directors feverishly search for the evasive “list tune” to round out their MPA program. In this clinic, we will examine the classification system used by the ABA and designations and discrepancies currently in use by a variety of music publishers. You will leave with a better understanding of components found at each grade level and be more able to confidently select literature to challenge and flatter your band at the same time!

We hope to see some of you at the beach!
