Ron Mallory is a native of Elba, Alabama and graduated from Elba High School in 1973. He attended College at Troy State University in Troy, Alabama and earned both his Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Music Education from Troy. Ron also holds his Administration Certification from Alabama State University.

While attending Troy State, Ron served as tuba section leader for the Troy State University Symphonic Band and was Drum Major for the nationally famous Sound of the South Marching Band.

Mr. Mallory taught band from 1977-1989 at Goshen, Opp, and Ozark, Alabama. While teaching, Mr. Mallory’s concert, marching, and jazz bands won numerous awards. His bands received recognition at the district, state, and regional levels.

Ron has been an adjudicator for concert band at the district and state level and has judged marching band contest throughout the Southeastern United States since 1976. He has now judged more than 100 band contests and festivals over this time period. He continues to be invited to be a clinician, director, and adjudicator.

He is the founder of the Little Big Horn Marching Contest, which has been running continuously for more than 31 years (and counting); it continues to be one of the south’s largest marching competitions. He was also the first conductor of the Prattville Pops Community Band and was instrumental in its organization.

Ron has been employed at Art’s Music Shop for the past 23 years. He is married to Gale who is in her 34th year of music education. She currently serves as band director and elementary music teacher in the Prattville area. They have two grown children, Georgia and Cleve, and a chocolate lab named Dixie.
